Quarter Peal Report 2014

This year I have used BellBoard for obtaining the data used for this report and include all quarters rung in the Diocese of Ely. I had hoped that using BellBoard would have simplified things, but on cross checking with the Ringing World I have found that over 25% of the quarters listed on BellBoard have not been printed in the RW. Many of these go back to the beginning of the year so I do not think there is a delay in printing. Several quarters have also appeared in the RW and not on BellBoard.  It is essential therefore to make sure when putting details on BellBoard that the link to send them to the Ringing World is also followed.. Figures for 2013 are in brackets.

A total of 596 quarters have been recorded, which is up on last year’s total of 515.   38 of these refer to 2013 and were printed late in the Ringing World and are therefore not included in last year's Report.

The running order of the Districts remains the same with 284 in the Cambridge District; 166 in the Huntingdon District;   130 in the Ely District;   and 16 in the Wisbech District.

A total of 423(457) ringers have taken part.  Janet Garnett retains her top position as leading ringer and those ringing 20+ appear in the list below:

Included in the totals are 4 date touches of 2013 changes at Trumpington, Great Gransden, Histon and on handbells at Little Gransden.  I am sure that there many quarters of particular note for ringers (1st inside, 1st in method, spliced surprise major multi methods etc) – too many to mention here, but we congratulate them all.  However the quarter of Stedman triples rung silent and non conducted at OLEM in June must be worthy of special note.

I finish with the usual pleas – publish early, keep footnotes brief and concise and Christian names please although you are improving as there were only a couple of quarters this year just using initials.
