The REC runs sessions on Saturday mornings from 10am to 1.15pm.
At 10am & 10:45 we run 45-minute one-to-one sessions teaching bell-handling with ART accredited or trained tutors (sometimes we have new tutors working under supervision). We have space for up to three students. These sessions are ideal for new ringers on the ART 'Learning the Ropes' scheme wanting to achieve their level one, or for anyone who is learning to ring from scratch. If you already belong to a band of ringers you can come to the REC for extra tuition.
Following this at 11:30 we hold a 'Ringing Together' practice where you can progress to ringing in a band supported by more experienced ringers. We concentrate on Learning the Ropes level 2 skills - improving bell control, listening, fun games, call changes and basic method skills.
Please email to book a place on any sessions so that we can make sure we have sufficient teachers and helpers. We charge £4 per session much of which goes back to the church to maintain the bells and pay for heating/lighting. All tutors and helpers are volunteers (thank you!)
Here is our Calendar of courses and other events at the Stretham REC which are open to all. If you would like to attend one of these events, please check the event details and pre-book if required.
You can also make a private booking to come yourself or to bring a group to the Stretham REC. For details, see Make a booking.
To make arrangements for a new open event, please check the Bookings Calendar and email the REC Manager strethamrec_at_elyda.org.uk to discuss your requirements.
